Hi, I’m Laura Ullrich! I’m currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at The University of Memphis and look forward to graduating in the spring of 2026. I also hold a Master’s Degree in Childhood Education from Southwestern Seminary and a Bachelor’s Degree in Religion from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama—my hometown.
Growing up in Birmingham gave me many opportunities to work with kids and families, and that early experience sparked a lifelong passion. For the past 15 years, I’ve served full-time as a Children’s Minister in Mississippi, walking alongside children and their families through life’s ups and downs. While I’ve spent over 20 years in church ministry, a big part of my heart has always been drawn toward counseling, especially helping children and parents navigate life’s challenges.
Right now, I’m developing my counseling skills through individual sessions with children diagnosed with autism and ADHD. I’m especially interested in working with children, teens, and families, and I strive to create a space where they can feel seen, safe, and supported. I use a variety of counseling theories and techniques to tailor each session to the unique needs of my clients—because I believe healing starts in a space where you feel free to be yourself.
When I’m not working as an intern or serving at my church, I love spending time with my husband and our two kids—whether we’re out on an adventure or just enjoying a quiet dayat home. We share our home with two sweet pups, Mallie and Izzy, and two bearded dragons, Jethro and Hagrid. There’s never a dull moment, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Laura Ullrich is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Masters level graduate intern with GBS, under the supervision of Emily Vanderpool, LBA, LPC-MHSP. She will be interning with us from June 2025-December 2025.
